The GREASER Hoodie Reimagined

We had the opportunity to co-design Danny Boy O'Connor's favorite wardrobe piece, the hoodie. The leather GREASER hoodie was originally designed and created out of suede cowhide leather for Danny Boy's red carpet appearance at the world premier of The Outsiders: A New Musical in New York City on March 16th, 2024.

 The "HOODIE" dates back to the 1930s. Originally designed as a utilitarian piece to keep athletes and laborers protected form the elements. In the 1970s and 1980s it was adopted by hip hop culture and has been worn amongst the masses ever since. 

Our leather GREASER hoodie design was reimagined for the everyday classic jersey hoodie. We used a heavyweight 10oz 80/20 ring-spun cotton/polyester blend fleece with 100% cotton face.

You will find monochromatic screen prints in Old English font throughout the hoodie that say "GREASER", "STAY GOLD", and "NORTH TULSA". These all pay tribute to S.E. Hinton’s classic book, The Outsiders.

We have a limited production run of hoodies that will be available in two locations, online at daviddangelocaldwell.com and The Outsiders House Museum gift shop.
