ABOUT US
Fashion designer David D'angelo Caldwell has always been a creative maverick who loves to work with his hands. From a very young age he dressed with style, expressing himself in an individual way. Fashion has always elicited excitement, while igniting an "I can do that" mentality. Early in life his mother taught him how to use a sewing machine, beginning to alter clothes for family and friends. In 2004 he launched the label David D'Angelo, sewing one-of-kind hats out of old sweaters. That same year he studied international business in the Veneto region of northern Italy. He fell in love with Italian culture and Italians’ effortless, timeless style.
After returning from this study abroad program in Italy, he made a life decision to complete a bachelors in design and relocated to New York City to begin his professional fashion career interning at the fashion house of Zac Posen.
David launched his women's wear collection in 2009 during New York Fashion Week, showcasing a collection called "Return of the Greenpeace Yuppies" at SPIN Magazine. The collection was inspired by Japanese Origami, modular magnets, and space travel. This colorful, futuristic ten-piece collection could be worn multiple ways creating new, unique silhouettes.
In the summer of 2010, he was cast as a contestant on Bravo's "The Fashion Show, Ultimate Collection" featuring Isaac Mizrahi and Iman. Following this opportunity he worked as the onset tailor for Paula Abdul, Travis Payne, and Jackie Evancho.
David has continued to infuse his professional life with style, creativity, and design. Fast forward to 2024, with his wide breadth of cultural and industry exposures, David D'angelo Caldwell is launching a leather jacket brand focusing on high-quality luxurious leathers and impeccable construction. His designs embody variations of the classics, while remaining true to tradition.
Our mission is to make the very best jacket; a jacket that becomes part of the wearer; a jacket that becomes a family heirloom.
